How Luxury Vinyl Plank Services Stand Out From Traditional Vinyl Plank

Posted on: 20 January 2023

Vinyl planks are becoming a popular way for many homeowners to update their flooring. The vinyl planks are easy to cut and easy to place and give a durable flooring option to carpet or traditional vinyl tiles. When you begin looking into vinyl planks, you may notice something different. You may start noticing something called luxury vinyl plank services. Here are the differences between traditional and luxury planks.

Thickness

When you begin looking at vinyl planks, you may notice that some of the options are not thick. In fact, some of the more common forms of vinyl plank flooring are around the same thickness as you would see in traditional peel-and-stick vinyl tile pieces. However, when you look at luxury vinyl planks, you will notice they are much thicker than traditional vinyl. This thickness gives you an added sense of durability and a firmer more real hardwood floor feel.

Installation

The installation of vinyl plank versus luxury vinyl plank flooring is slightly different. With the traditional option, the plank is placed where the homeowner wants it and is usually laid flat to the floor or flat to the membrane between the floor and the plank. With a luxury vinyl plank, a method called floating installation is used. This method uses a locking method as well as special spacing joints to make sure the floor looks and feels like a traditional hardwood floor.

Sound

You may not think of the sound a floor has when you are determining what type of flooring you want. Sound should be considered, however, when you want to have a hardwood floor sound. When you use traditional vinyl planks, the vinyl has a hollow-like sound that is reminiscent of a plastic sound. This can make someone automatically view the floor as a cheaper option or material. When you use a luxury vinyl plank, the sound emulates the same sound as a hardwood floor. This sound combined with the floating installation and the thickness of the luxury vinyl ends up giving a true imitation of hardwood flooring.

Your flooring contractor can offer several luxury vinyl plank services for your home. The first service will be determining the measurements of the rooms you want to convert to luxury vinyl plank flooring. After measurements are taken and the vinyl is chosen, you can proceed with having the planks placed. If there are any additional options, services, or steps your flooring contractor will discuss those with you before moving forward.
